Walter Leonard Emmitt was killed in action on 9 July 1942, when the anti-submarine trawler Manor was sunk by E-Boats in the Channel - only one member of crew survived. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Lowestoft Naval Memorial; the above described forwarding box is addressed to ‘Mrs. I. D. Emmitt, 98 Strand Street, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.’
