Lady Hawkins, on which date she was torpedoed by the U-66 in the North Atlantic - only one boat was got away, and 250 lives were lost through drowning or exposure. In addition to several “mentions” and commendations, the ship’s Chief Officer, Percy Kelly, was awarded the M.B.E. and Lloyd’s Bravery Medal on the same occasion.
