Victor Barratt Budden died on 6 October 1917, when his ship, the ex-sloop H.M.S. Begonia, disappeared without trace while operating in disguise as a merchantman in the Mediterranean. He was the son of Frederick and Sarah Budden of 14 Baffin’s Road, Copnor, Portsmouth, husband of Eliza May Budden of 11 St. Mary Road, Portsmouth, and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
