France, c.1925. FRANCE, Léda et le Cygne [Leda and the Swan], a uniface Art Deco bronze plaque by A. Lavrillier, Leda with swan, 100 x 61mm (CGMP p.228; Jones, The Art of the Medal, 418; cf. BDW 5, 120, and 13, 242). One of the classic Art Deco images, very fine and very rare (£250-300)

Although these plaques were not issued by the Monnaie de Paris until 1929, the image had been exhibited by the artist in the 1925 exhibition, Douze Medailleurs.
