M.I.D. London Gazette 5 June 1919 (East Africa). ‘... valuable services rendered from 1 August 1918 to cessation of hostilities’.

Percival John Richardson served in East Africa from 3 October 1914 as a member of a volunteer artillery battery made up of members of the 1st Calcutta Port Defence Group Garrison Artillery. He was commissioned as a local Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in early 1915 and was posted to the King’s African Rifles on 27 May 1915. Promoted Temporary Lieutenant in the K.A.R. on 27 July 1915 and Temporary Captain and posted to the 2/6th K.A.R. on 1 November 1916. Mentioned in the despatches of Lieutenant-General Sir J. L. van Deventer for services rendered in East Africa in the last months of the war. With copied service details.
