William Haimes, who was born in Bardsley, Lancashire, and a musician by profession, enlisted in February 1915. Posted to the 25th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, he died of illness on active service in East Africa on 8 February 1916, aged 30 years. He was buried in the Kajiado Cemetery, Nairobi, Kenya. He was the son of Joseph and Hannah Haimes of Oldham. With copied m.i.c.
