M.S.M. London Gazette 1 January 1918. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in the Field during the present war’.

Daniel Harrington was born in Co. Cork. A Chainman by occupation, he attested for the Royal Engineers at Kinsale on 15 August 1898., aged 24 years, 4 months. He was promoted to Serjeant in the 53rd Company in March 1910. In May 1912 he was transferred to the Regular Establishment of the Royal Anglesey R.E. and was appointed Acting C.S.M. in August 1915. In April 1916 he was posted to the 279th Railway Company R.E. and was promoted to C.S.M. (Warrant Officer Class 2) in October 1916 Harrington served with the B.E.F., 11 November 1914-27 June 1918. Awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. by A.O. 125 of 1917 and the Army M.S.M. in 1918. Warrant Officer Harrington was discharged at the termination of his second period of engagement on 14 August 1919. With a quantity of copied service papers and gazette and war diary extracts.
