The St Marylebone Theatre, inaugurated in November 1837, was a reincarnation of three previous theatres on the same site: the Royal Sussex (opened 1831), the Pavilion (1832) and the Portman (1835). In 1842 it was rebuilt as the Theatre Royal, Marylebone and underwent numerous changes in the 90 years that followed before being converted to a cinema
