Lizars, seated Hibernia crowning farmworker with wreath, plough and animals at sides, rev. wreath, named (Joseph Falkner Esq, Rodeen, 1842), edge impressed (For the Best Five Acres of Turnips in the Nenagh Farming Society), 45mm (Lane, Went and Bateson, NSI Occ. Papers 19, no. 1; cf. DNW 120, 3305). Obverse edge knock at 1 o’clock, otherwise about very fine, an early award £100-150

Joseph Falkner (†11 August 1857), one of 11 sons of the Revd. Richard Daniel Falkner (1755-1825) of Mount Falcon, held land in the parishes of Finnoe and Kilbarron. He lived at Rodeen House, Borrisokane, co Tipperary
