Conor Murphy was born in Galway, Ireland, and attested for the 60th Foot, in March 1847. He served with the Regiment during the Punjab Campaign 1848-49 (entitled Punjab Medal with ‘Mooltan’ and ‘Goojerat’ clasps). Murphy served with the 1st Battalion during the Indian Mutiny, and was wounded before Delhi, 13 August 1857. He was discharged 5 June 1868, having served 21 years and 100 days with the Colours.
