Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (44th. Bde. 436. Drumr. W. Parish, 44th. Foot) officially re-impressed naming, good very fine £60-80

William Parish was born on 19 September 1843 in Glasgow and attested for the 19th (1st Yorkshire) Regiment of Foot at Exeter on 19 June 1858. Appointed a Drummer on 1 December 1858, he transferred to the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot on 1 September 1876, and was re-appointed as a Drummer on 26 March 1879. He was awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal shortly before his discharge on 9 January 1883, after 24 years and 205 days’ service, of which over 19 years were spent soldiering in India.
