Three: Major H. W. Meredith, 41st Foot, who was severely wounded at Inkermann

Henry Warter Meredith was born at Dalguise, Perthshire, on 27 August 1825, and was commissioned as an Ensign in the 41st Foot on 6 June 1845; Lieutenant, 3 November 1846; Captain, 25 June 1852; Brevet Major, 12 December 1854; Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel, 7 March 1862; exchanged to 45th Foot as Major, 23 April 1873; retired by sale of his commission, 27 February 1875.

Lieutenant-Colonel Meredith served with the 41st in the Eastern campaign of 1854 up to 27th October including the battles of Alma and Inkermann (severely wounded), siege of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie of 26th October (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Sold with copied Statement of Services and other research.
