Pair: Major H. S. Bush, 41st Foot, who was severely wounded and awarded the Sardinian War Medal for gallantry at Inkermann

Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (H. S. Bush Capt: 41st Regt.) contemporary engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, unnamed, together with a contemporary miniature Al Valore Militare, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine (3) £360-400

Henry Stratton Bush was commissioned as an Ensign in the 41st Foot on 16 March 1850; Lieutenant, 26 November 1852; Captain, 24 November 1854; Major, 7 November 1856; exchanged to 100th Foot, 5 February 1861; retired 7 April 1862.

Major Bush served with the 41st Regiment in the Eastern Campaign of 1854 and up to the 13th January 1855, including the battles of Alma and Inkermann (severely wounded, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie of 26th October (Medal and three clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals).

Al Valore Militare: ‘Major Henry Stratton Bush; for having gallantly led men of his company to an advanced position, which he succeeded in holding against a superior force, at the battle of Inkermann, where he was severely wounded.’

Major Bush died at Alphington, near Exeter, on 30 October 1887. Sold with copied research.
