Donald Adrian Vanrenen was born in Kensington, London on 15 March 1876. On 14 March 1900 he was commissioned into the 1st Battalion Manchester Regiment and joined the unit in South Africa on 1 June 1900, being advanced to Lieutenant in October 1900. Later employed with the South African Constabulary. Lieutenant Vanrenen resigned his commission on 2 June 1902. With copied roll extracts and other research.
