Victory Medal 1914-19 (K.32773 A. Stewart, Sto. 1, R.N.) good very fine £ 100-140

Alexander Stewart was born in Woodside, Aberdeen on 15 March 1893. Employed as a Nautical Machine Man. Enrolled into the R.N.V.R. in October 1914. Served with the R.N.D. Hawke Battalion at Gallipoli until evacuated suffering from dysentery. Drafted into the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in May 1916. Served on H.M.S. Calliope, June 1916-November 1917. Promoted to Stoker 1st Class in January 1917. Re-enrolled into the R.N.V.R. in November 1917. Participated in the V.C. ballot for the Zeebrugge Raid. With copied R.N. and R.N.V.R. service papers.
