THE PRESTON-MORLEY BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COLLECTION, Stowe School, award medals (2), in bronze and silver, by F. Phillips, arms and motto, rev. wreath, named (bronze: 1930 Long Jump Junior, 2nd Prize, R.G. Atkinson; silver: 1932 100 Yards Open, won by R.G. Atkinson, J. Collins-Lewis, Time 10 3/8 secs), both 45mm (Grant, BNJ XXIII, p.463 [1924]) [2]. Bronze almost extremely fine, silver brilliant and practically as struck; both in original black fitted cases (£50-70)

The Phillips signature is only clear at the bottom of the reverse on the earliest Stowe medals and is present on the 1930 medal in this lot. By 1932 the signature had virtually disappeared, a victim, one presumes, of clogged dies
