Succession of Henry IX [aka ‘The Grand Medal’], 1788, a silver medal by G. Hamerani, bust right in skull cap, chain of pectoral cross spread wide over shoulder, rev. standing figure of Religion holding bible and cross, St Peter’s Church in background, lion at feet, 53mm, 2mm thick flan (Woolf 73:1c; BHM 282; E 823). Struck from rusty dies, metal flaw on breast of Religion, otherwise about extremely fine and toned (£180-220)
