Charles I (1625-1649), Third Coinage, Briot’s issue, Twelve Shillings, no m.m., signed B both sides, 5.73 gms (M. p.133); Forty Pence (3), viz. type 1 with four lozenges around mark of value, B under bust and over crown, REIPVB, 1.58 gms (M. obv. a, rev. g); type 3 with lozenges above and below value (2), B at end of legends, REIPVBLICE, 1.45 gms B under shoulder and over crown, REIPVB, 1.36 gms (M. obv. d, rev. c; obv. h, rev. g); Twenty Pence, type 2 with no marks by value, reads HI, B at end of obverse legend and inside reverse crown, 0.89 gms (M. obv. f, rev. m) (S. 5558, 5575, 5577, 5586/5585). Third and fourth fair, others fine, last better and a scarce variant (5)
