H.M.S. Orlando was an Armoured Cruiser of 5,600 tons, built by Palmer and launched in August 1886. A total of 81 officers and other ranks of the ship were entitled to the China Medal with the two clasps. Clasps confirmed.

Able Seaman J. H. Hall was wounded in China by a shell causing general contusions.
