Sergeant O. H. Ernst was a regular soldier who helped raise the Rhodesian SAS Squadron for service in Malaya. He died in Malaya on 13 June 1951, becoming the first casualty suffered by the unit on active service. The lot is sold with a Squadron photograph and related copy news cuttings.
