Major Anthony Alister Benn was killed in action on 26 August 1944, at the crossing of the River Seine at Vernon, whilst attached as second in command of the 1st Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. He is buried in Vernon (Vernonnet) Communal Cemetery, France.
