Second Lieutenant George Dawson Hope Atkin was a native of Birkenhead and was educated at the Birkenhead School and Gresham School, Norfolk. He was mortally wounded on 15 July 1916 at Bazentine-le-Petite Wood and died the following day. He is buried at La Neuville British Cemetery, France.
