Harold Shipley, a former member of the Northamptonshire Regiment, attested for Thorneycroft’s Mounted Infantry on 6 December 1899. The unit took a prominent part in the battles of Colenso and Spion Kop. Shipley also served with the Standerton Civil Police and the National Scouts. With copied attestation paper, roll extract and other research.
