Henry Nathaniel Alexander was born on 7 June 1854, the second son of Henry Alexander of Forkhill, Co. Amagh, by his marriage to Lady Louisa, daughter of the 2nd Earl Ranfurly. He entered into the Indo-European Telegraph Department in March 1872. Serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police at Kurrachee in June 1877. Listed as Superintendent of Police in 1884 and was Inspector-General of Prisons, Bombay, from 1901 until his retirement in 1909. He died on 28 January 1923.
