Four: Flying Officer A. T. Morrison, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who flew numerous missions as a navigator in Beaufighters of No. 27 Squadron in the Far East, including a number of sorties against Indonesian insurgents at the War’s end

Allan Thackeray Morrison, who was born in Newcastle in May 1924, enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in July 1942 and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in August 1944.

Subsequently posted to No. 27 Squadron in the Far East, with whom he served as a navigator in the unit’s Beaufighters, he flew operationally on ground attack missions until the War’s end, following which he participated in similar activities against Indonesian insurgents - Morrison was among two of 27’s crews sent to Kemajoran, Batavia, in November 1945 and between them they notched up a tally of 94 operational sorties before returning to Burma. He was demobilised in February 1946; sold with a file of research.
