A Great War A.R.R.C. group of three awarded to Commandant Kleo Friend, The Castle Auxiliary Hospital, Ryde, Isle of Wight, late the Victoria Hospital, Mafeking

Royal Red Cross, 2nd Class (A.R.R.C.), G.V.R., silver and enamel, unnamed, on bow ribbon; Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, no clasp (Miss Kleo Friend, Nurse); British Red Cross Society War Commemorative Medal 1914-18, unnamed, with brooch bar, Q.S.A. with edge bruising, good very fine and better (3) £350-450

A.R.R.C. London Gazette 29 January 1918.

During the Boer War Miss Kleo Friend was employed as a Nurse at the Victoria Hospital, Mafeking. During the Great War she was awarded the A.R.R.C. as Commandant of The Castle Auxiliary Hospital, Ryde, Isle of Wight. With copied roll and gazette extracts.
