William Watson was born in Warminster, Wiltshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery on 20 July 1875, aged 19 years. He served overseas at the Cape of Good Hope, February-October 1879 and India, October 1879-November 1887. Awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. with gratuity in 1894. Discharged with a pension at Chatham on 19 July 1896, having completed his second period of service. With copied service papers.
