Private Arthur Smith served with the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade in the Boer War and was awarded the Q.S.A. with clasps for Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Laing’s Nek and Belfast, and the K.S.A. with two clasps. During the Somaliland campaign of 1902-04 he served as part of a detachment of 34 men of the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade who were attached to No. 2 (Bengal) Company, British Mounted Infantry, 1st Somali Camel Corps. Soon after the campaign he transferred to the 4th Battalion. With copied research.
