Army Meritorious Service Medal, V.R. (Color Sgt. P. O’Brien, 106/Foot) nearly extremely fine £300-350

Patrick O’Brien was born c.1834 in Carlow, Ireland. A Shoemaker by occupation, he enlisted into the 11th Foot on 25 March 1852 and attained the rank of Sergeant in 1860. He transferred as a Sergeant to the 106th Foot on 1 March 1863. Appointed a Color-Sergeant, May-November 1864 and again from January 1865. Transferred to the Portsmouth Rifle Volunteers in 1871, he was discharged in 1873, though he continued as an Instructor until 1892. Awarded the M.S.M. and £10 annuity on 6 August 1897.
