William Kennedy was born in St. John’s, Blackburn, Lancashire and enlisted at Blackburn. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 30 August 1914. He was killed in action at the battle of Le Cateau on 2 November 1914. He was buried in the Lancashire Cottage Cemetery and was the brother of Miss M. Kennedy, of 26 Inkerman Street, Blackburn. Entitled to clasp. With copied m.i.c. and other research.
