George Scott Prowse was born and lived in Chudleigh and enlisted at London. Serving with the 10th Hussars he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 6 October 1914. He was killed in action on 31 October 1914, aged 29 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Emma Prowse of Sowell’s Farm, Kentisbeare, Cullompton, Devon. Clasp confirmed. With copied m.i.c.
