Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, G.V.R. (332 L. Cpl. W. H. Thomas, 2/Mon. R.) suspension ring detached, very fine £80-100

William Henry Thomas, who was born in Newport, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Thomas of Abercarn, was first embarked for active service as a Lance-Corporal in the 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment in early November 1914. He was susbequently killed in action on 12 April 1918, aged 33 years and has no known grave. His name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial at Hainaut, Belgium.
