Louis Silver was born in Sutton, near Winchester, Hampshire in 1852 and enlisted on 7 October 1870. He served with the 2nd Battalion Cheshire Regiment in the U.K., India and Burma until discharged in 1898. Awarded the Long Service medal in 1890; he was recommended for the M.S.M. in March 1898 and awarded it, with an annuity of £10, in 1921. Sold with some copied research.
