John Henry Dangerfield was born in Stroud, Gloucestershire and entered the Royal Navy in November 1866. A Painter 1st Class by the time of his service in H.M.S. Penelope (October 1881 to June 1883), he was awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in August 1886 and was pensioned ashore in November 1896; sold with a file of research, including copied service record.
