Geoffrey Theodore Hellicar was born on 19 December 1896 at Stoke Newington and was educated at Wilson College and Strand School, King’s College, London. He attested for the 28th Battalion London Regiment (Artists’ Rifles) on 25 May 1915. In September the same year he gained a commission in the 2nd/20th Battalion London Regiment. On active service in France, he was killed in action on 26 July 1916, aged 19 years. He was buried in the Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St. Eloi. He was the son of George Thomas and Lily Hellicar of 47 Woodbury Grove, Finsbury Park, London.
