Henry Martin Richards was born in Islington, Middlesex on 18 November 1850. Entering the Royal Navy in April 1876 he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in April 1888. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1891 aboard the guardship Asia. Pensioned in May 1896. In the 1901 Census he is listed as a ‘Seagoing Engineer’. With copied service paper.
