Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R., the reverse officially inscribed, ‘127078 A.L. Cpl. A. E. Deal’, in case of issue, attempted erasure to naming, lettering tooled, with a pin-fitting to reverse, very fine £30-50

Albert Edward Deal, of the 31st (Alberta) Battalion, died of wounds on 13 August 1918, aged 39 years. The official casualty report states, ‘Died of Wounds (Gunshot wounds chest, hemothorax and shoulder, penetrating chest) at No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville.’ He was buried in the Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension; sold with copied service papers.
