James Hollywood Boyd was born in Waterford, Ireland. A Draftsman by occupation, he enlisted into the 142nd Battalion at London, Ontario, in April 1916, but was transferred to the C.A.M.C. on arrival in England. Having then served out in France in 3rd Canadian General Hospital from March 1917, he was himself admitted to hospital with an abdominal complaint. He was discharged as medically unfit at London, Ontario, in December 1918; sld with copied service papers.
