Lambeth, Denton’s mule Farthings (4), deformed dwarf, sir jeffery dunstan, revs. crown in radiated circle (2), with roses and date, 3.94g/6h (DH 20), no roses or date, 3.99g/6h (DH 23); Britannia seated with scales, 3.93g/6h (DH 21); cart unloading into a ship, 3.96g/6h (DH 22) [4]. About extremely fine and better, first with much original colour, usual obverse die flaw on last three, all scarce (£180-220)

‘Sir’ Jeffery Dunstan (†March 1797), a travelling wig-seller ‘of grotesque appearance’ was elected mayor of Garrat Green, a district between Wandsworth and Lambeth, in 1781, 1785 and 1790; he was imprisoned for sedition in 1793 (Gladdle, CTCJ February 1997, pp.26-7)
