Victoria (1837-1901), 1860, dies Ee, similar, rev. lcw below Britannia’s foot, masonry on lighthouse clearly defined, 9.87g/12h (Gouby M; Satin 13; F 14 [dies 3+E; Sale, lot 9]; Adams 208; ‘Gregory’ 429; BMC 1626; S 3954). Obverse beginning to tone, otherwise virtually as struck with full original colour, extremely rare (£800-1,000)

Superior to both the Colin Adams specimen, sold for £700 in 2003, the Parry (M. Rasmussen FPL 9, March 2006, item C8, £1,000) and ‘Gregory’ specimens (Baldwin Auction 44, lot 429, £1,000); another example, described by Laurie Bamford as ‘a bit proof like’ sold for £760 in January 2004 (Croydon Coin Auctions, lot 178)
