Provenance: Bt S.E. Schwer August 1985.

Samuel Henry Hamer (1859-1930), engineer and lathe chuck manufacturer, Range lane, Halifax, from 1888, lived at Bank House, Halifax; noted iron founder, antiquary and token collector; co-author with Richard Dalton of the standard work on British 18th century tokens. He retained a keen interest in photography and clocks, particularly in later life. The dies for his tokens were ordered from the Birmingham medallists J.A. Restall
