India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (Lt. Col. R. S. Paul, Zhob Militia) edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise very fine £140-160

Robert Sears Paul, who was born in September 1868, was first commissioned into the Border Regiment in January 1889, but transferred to the Indian Army in July 1901.

A veteran of the relief of Pekin operations of 1900, he witnessed further active service in the Great War with the 126th Infantry, firstly in Egypt from November 1914 to March 1915, and afterwards in the Aden Field Force in July of the latter year. Mentioned in despatches (
London Gazette 4 July 1916), and advanced to Lieutenant-Colonel, he went on to serve in Persia from August to October 1916, and in Mespotamia from the latter month until March 1917, and was wounded.

In July 1917, Paul was appointed to the Militia, and served as Commandant of the Zhob Militia in the Third Afghan War in 1919. He was placed on the Retired List in July 1920.
