Frederick Whitehead, who was born in August 1911, enlisted in the Royal Artillery at Preston in January 1938. His Soldier’s Service and Pay Book - original included - confirms that he was a member of the Maritime R.A. and that he attended D.E.M.S. courses in March 1943 and October 1944.
