Farrer, who served in the 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment from June 1915 until July 1919, enlisted in the Royal Air Force in September of the latter year, and served out in India in No. 3 Squadron at the time of the North West Frontier operations of 1935. Awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in January 1937, he was pensioned in May 1939; accompanying research refers.
