Sergeant David A. Bell, Company H, 143rd Infantry, 36th Infantry Division, received the Silver Star posthumously in the 36th Division GO 340 of 15 September 1944, for gallantry in action. Bell died on 23 January 1944 after the failed ‘Rapido River’ crossing effort. Bell was from Sheridan, Wyoming.
