Sidney Williams lived in Poplar and enlisted in London. Serving in the 6th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment (Rifles), he entered Le Havre on 18 March 1915. He was killed in action on the first day of the battle of Loos, 25 September 1915, aged 22 years. He was buried in St. Mary’s A.D.S. Cemetery, Haisnes. Sidney Williams was the son of John Thomas and Matilda Williams, of 55 Dee Street, Poplar, London. With copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
