Standish de Courcy O’Grady was born in Dresden on 27 July 1872. Studying at Dublin University he gained a B.A., B.A.O., B.Ch. and M.B. and registered as a Medical Practitioner in Ireland on 28 March 1896. He entered the R.A.M.C. as a Lieutenant in January 1898 and was promoted to Captain in January 1901. He served in the operations in Somaliland 1902-04 and was mentioned in despatches. Promoted to Major in October 1909 and Lieutenant-Colonel in March 1915, he attained the rank of Temporary Colonel in October 1916. He was A.D.M.S. 33rd Division in France, 30 October 1916-15 March 1919 and A.D.M.S. 1st Cavalry Division in France, 16 March-13 October 1919. He was later A.D.M.S. Allied Corps, Constantinople. For his services in the Great War he was three times mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.M.G., D.S.O. and Belgian Civic Decoration. Sold with some copied research.
