David Kenneth Cowling, who was born in August 1961, entered the Royal Air Force in May 1978. Advanced to Senior Aircraftman (Flight Line Mechanic) in November of the same year, his subsequent entitlement to the South Atlantic Medal, with rosette, is verified by accompanying photocopies from his discharge papers (dated January 1985).
