The Theatre Royal in this case refers to the third of five to bear the name in Dublin. It opened in 1821, and having survived several different owners, finally closed in 1880. 26 December 1848 was the opening night of a pantomime ‘Harlequin Hurdothrumbo’, written by Captain Leicester Smith. Characters included Signor Bolero, who is also the signatory on the note.
