S.W.Fores No. 20, for Cardinal, Monk & Inquisitor, 10 Quatrini, 12 August 1818, promising to pay ‘Monsieur de Pap, alias the Pope, or Bearer, when the Roman Catholic Faith shall constitute the Established Religion of England, and when the French Emperor shall, with all humility, Kiss the Great Toe of His Holiness’, signed Maria Crucifix and Dominic Friar, with a vignette showing what is presumably a bible with the writing Her Sins have reach’d unto Heaven, and additionally, ‘Rome, that did corrupt the Earth with her sins, Is Fallen, Rome, the Mother of Abominations of the Earth, Is Fallen, staple holes at left and right, lightly toned, about extremely fine £100-£150
